Description
Organised by Social Accountability International (SAI) and International Organisation for Migration (IOM)
Hundreds of thousands of migrant workers power the global garment and footwear industries, but companies often have little insight into labor recruiters’ practices and there are few established channels to regulate them. Organized and fair migration benefits all parties—workers, employers, and sending and destination countries—but without effective oversight, migrant workers are among the most vulnerable groups in global supply chains.
IOM, SAI, and a coalition of partners have launched IRIS: International Recruitment Integrity Standard in response to this gap. IRIS enables employers and workers to identify ethical recruiters and make informed decisions by defining a benchmark for ethical recruitment, building recruiters’ capacity for ethical operation, and establishing a certification for recruiters.
Join our panelists for a discussion of the challenges to ethical recruitment, learnings from the IRIS program, and the outlook for ethical recruitment in coming years.
