New data for Africa’s changing climate: Mapping risks, readiness and policy action

OnlineNov 2, 2026 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

Description

The OECD’s Climate Action Monitor is an annual publication tracking greenhouse gas emissions trends, climate-related hazards and the evolution of climate policies. Drawing on OECD data, it provides comparable, data-driven evidence on countries’ progress towards their national climate objectives across OECD Members and partner countries.  This session will present key climate findings from the latest edition, with a particular focus on the implementation challenge facing governments as they translate climate commitments into action. The report also includes in-depth analyses on the impact of extreme heat and drought, climate policies in the Asia-Pacific region and progress towards electrification across key sectors of the economy.  By highlighting recent trends, emerging risks and policy developments, the Climate Action Monitor offers valuable insights into where countries are advancing and where further efforts are needed to achieve climate goals.
