Description
While a growing body of research points to the potential benefits of climate policies, progress remains uneven and emissions reductions are not yet occurring at the scale required. Persistent barriers, together with the interconnected nature of economies and emissions systems, underscore the importance of effective climate governance and international co-operation.
This Opening Session will examine the economic, social and security implications of delayed climate action versus proactive investment in resilience and transition. Panellists will explore climate mitigation and adaptation not only as an environmental agenda, but as a foundation for security, competitiveness and long-term prosperity. Beyond providing evidence on the government policy case for action, it will explore the business and societal benefits of policy implementation and how to leverage finance in this context.
