Jul 8, 2025 | 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

Puerta de Oro - Deep dive room 2

Description

This side event explores how cities in Latin America and the Caribbean can advance urban development models that are resilient, inclusive, and rooted in biodiversity. Through nature-based solutions, local governments can enhance environmental quality, strengthen climate resilience, and foster economic competitiveness. Promoted by CAF – the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean – in alliance with the Humboldt Institute, the BiodiverCities Network brings together nearly 200 cities committed to transforming aspiration into coordinated action. The network focuses on identifying, structuring, and financing high-impact, people- and biodiversity-centered urban interventions. The event will present key tools for urban biodiversity management, showcase leading city experiences, and examine the role of biodiversity, Nature Based Solutions and bioeconomy in driving local economies, competitiveness and wellbeing. Participants will gain practical insights aligned with the priorities of the OECD Local Development Forum, and connect with peers working to shape the future of sustainable urban development in the region.
