Putting HREDD into practice in leather supply chains - building on lessons from Bangladesh

This side session will share new insights on environmental and human rights risks in Bangladesh Leather sector and how tanneries, trade union and civil society actors are collectively working toward mitigating them; drawing on an in-depth study conducted in the Savar Tannery Industrial Estate. It will also introduce ETI’s recently published Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence (HREDD) guidance for the leather supply chain, developed in consultation with brands, unions and industry experts. The session will explore how risks such as occupational health and safety, gender inequality, and waste management intersect across the value chain. Participants will leave with clear, practical steps that brands and buyers can take to strengthen due diligence and drive sector-wide improvements.
