Description
Cara Schulte is a researcher at Climate Rights International and a doctoral candidate at the University of California, Berkeley, where her research focuses on the health and human rights impacts of climate change and extreme heat. Most recently, her work has examined how rising temperatures affect garment workers in Bangladesh and Pakistan, and how these risks intersect with labor conditions, gender inequality, and corporate responsibility across global supply chains. Her work bridges empirical research and policy advocacy, with a focus on rights-based approaches to climate adaptation in the Global South.
At Berkeley, Cara is a member of the Global Environmental Health Equity Lab and has received fellowships from the Human Rights Center, the Institute for South Asia Studies, the Bixby Center, and the School of Public Health to support her field-based research.
In addition to her academic work, Cara serves as a research assistant to the United Nations Special Rapporteur on Climate Change and Human Rights and is a contributing scholar with the Sabin Center for Climate Law’s Global Network on Climate Litigation.
She holds a BA and an MHS in Environmental Health Science from Johns Hopkins University and is a member of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
