Textile Collections: The Next Opportunity in Circular Textiles

Feb 13, 2026 | 9:15 AM - 10:15 AM

Description

Organised by WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme) and Circle Economy As used textile policy rapidly evolves, ‘textile waste’ has become a critical focus in global due diligence frameworks. Yet, without coordinated action, diverging regulations risk unintended consequences in the value chain – from collection and sorting to recycling and reuse. There is an urgent need for economically viable, socially just, transparent systems that empower citizens as active participants. With WRAP’s 25 years of experience in citizen engagement and collection system design, and Circle Economy’s expertise in mapping used textile flows and its impacts, the session will share key findings from recent publications and discuss the economic, social and infrastructural conditions needed to build inclusive, circular textile value chains based on decent work. Findings show that fibre-to-fibre recycling hinges on redesigned collection systems alongside investments in advanced sorting, embedded transparency, and stakeholder support to ensure a just transition.
