Description
Organised by BridgeGap
This session repositions integrity and transparency systems as core enablers of competitiveness and sustainable growth, moving beyond their traditional role as compliance safeguards. Presenting original research from the EU BRIDGEGAP project, we introduce a framework for Integrity Management Systems (IMS) and demonstrate how imbalanced systems lead to failure while agile and embedded ones generate value. Using cross-sector case studies from defence, infrastructure, health, sport, and banking we explore how organisations can enhance their integrity to build trust, prevent scandals, and foster innovation.
At the macro-level, we introduce new evidence on de jure and de facto transparency across Europe, revealing how transparency – when meaningfully aligned with citizen participation – enhances integrity system performance. Bridging the macro and micro levels, we then examine whistleblowing to analyse the interaction of IMS with personal and contextual factors. This session will provide a roadmap for public and private leaders to transform ethics into a strategic asset.
