From trade-offs to synergies: Decarbonisation and resilience at the transport-energy nexus

OnlineNov 17, 2026 | 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Description

As energy and transport systems become more interconnected through electrification and alternative fuels, balancing decarbonisation with resilience is a growing challenge. Does the shift towards electrified fleets, and thus the reliance on a single energy carrier, increase the vulnerability of the system? Can vehicle-to-grid technologies transform electric vehicles from a resilience risk to a resilience asset? Does the shift from oil dependence to critical mineral dependence improve or worsen transport system resilience? This session explores how policymakers, operators, and other key stakeholders can strengthen energy security, transport infrastructure reliability, and climate operational resilience while accelerating the transition to low-carbon mobility and energy system.
