Description
Amiel Vasl is the Director of the Senior Department of Climate Resilience at the Ministry of Environmental Protection. In this role, he collaborates across national and local government in the development and implementation of climate adaptation plans. Responsibilities include heading the process of compilation of the National Adaptation Plan, ensuring a coordinated approach to building resilience nationwide. Amiel’s team works on creating decision-support tools, such as methodologies for cost-benefit analysis, vulnerability indexes, and geographic mapping, with the goal of improving the effectiveness and targeting of adaptation measures.
Prior to joining the Ministry of Environmental Protection several years ago, Amiel spent six years in the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, where he gained experience in integrating  sustainable development considerations in  infrastructure planning and management.
He holds a PhD in Ecology from the University of Haifa, specializing in the ecology of green roofs. He also holds degrees in Ecology, Biology and Jewish Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
