Innovative models for migrant inclusion: Experiences from Central America.

Jul 11, 2025 | 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM

Puerta de Oro - SALA BOCAS DE CENIZA

Description

Migration brings challenges and generates economic, social, and cultural value in the host communities. Migrants are essential for our economies, but current inclusion approaches often fall short by neglecting migrants' agency. An effective socioeconomic inclusion still requires systemic approaches and innovative models based on multisectoral and inter-institutional collaboration. The event will highlight the crucial role of a Global South perspective, emphasizing community ownership and locally led solutions. Fundación Avina's work in Central America, prioritizing locally led initiatives and focusing on the future of work for migrants, provides a valuable example. This event will provide a platform to exchange experiences and debate diverse models of socioeconomic inclusion for migrants, contributing to shaping inclusive and sustainable local economic development, inclusion, and innovation.
