Ambassador Stephen Jones took up his duties as Permanent Representative of Australia to the OECD on 11 September 2025. Ambassador Jones is a former Federal Parliamentarian (Member for Whitlam), serving 5 terms between 2010 and 2025. Between 2022 and 2025, he was the Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Financial Services and a member of the Expenditure Review Committee of Cabinet. Key ministerial achievements included delivering a major economic reform agenda across superannuation, financial crime, banking services, financial advice, credit law, consumer protection, insurance and digital policy.
