Description
Gerardo is the General Director of Central Banking Operations at Banco de México.
He oversees the implementation of Mexico’s monetary and foreign exchange policies, including open market operations, liquidity facilities, and FX interventions. He leads the investment strategy and asset‑allocation framework for the country’s USD 216 billion international reserves, and manages the issuance of government debt as part of the central bank’s financial agency services.
Gerardo advises the Board of Governors on macro‑financial developments and represents Mexico in key international forums, chairing global committees such as the Global Foreign Exchange Committee. He also supports major public institutions on risk management, portfolio strategy, and derivatives hedging.
