Description

Seiichi Shimizu has been Executive Director since May 2022 and has also been Assistant Governor for international affairs since May 2024. Since joining the BOJ in 1988, he has served various positions such as the Director-General of the Financial Markets Department (2016-2020) and the Monetary Affairs Department (2020-2022). He was also seconded to the IMF as Senior Economist (2006-2009). Seiichi Shimizu holds a Bachelor of Arts in Law from the University of Tokyo.He also holds a Master of Laws from the University of Virginia School of Law. In 2025, the OECD Committee on Financial Markets has elected Seiichi Shimizu as its Chair.
