Description
After studying law in France and the United States (Paris X University and Master of Laws (LL.M.) from American University, Washington College of Law in Washington D.C.), Elodie Vandenhende began her career as a solicitor specialising in competition law. A member of the Paris and New York Bar Associations, she practised for several years at a renowned American law firm.
Advisor to the Secretary General of the French Presidency of the European Union in 2008, she was then appointed in 2009 to the office of the Minister of Economy and Finance as technical advisor in charge of European affairs. For more than three years, she was involved in managing the eurozone crisis, working closely with European institutions.
In 2012, she joined the DGCCRF, where she specialised in litigation relating to restrictive competition practices. In this capacity, she was responsible for the actions taken by the State against certain practices of digital platforms (practices implemented in the area of online hotel reservations and practices towards sellers using online marketplaces).
In 2018, Elodie Vandenhende was appointed project manager to the President of the Competition Authority, where she is responsible for monitoring the institution's modernisation projects and contributes to discussions on adapting competition rules to the challenges of the digital economy, particularly within the framework of the Etats Généraux du Numérique (Digital Forum) and the interministerial working group on the regulation of digital platforms.
Since September 2020, she has been a rapporteur in the digital economy department.
In 2020, Elodie Vandenhende was selected for the French-American Foundation's Young Leaders programme.
