Klaus Oberbauer is the Sustainability Manager at PT Trimegah Bangun Persada (Harita Nickel), an Indonesian nickel mining and processing company (tbpnickel.com). He leads the company’s efforts to align with responsible supply chain regulations, including overseeing the first independent assessment against the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) conducted at an Indonesian mining site. Additionally, the company conducts assessments under the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP) of the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI), the implementation of Human Rights Due Diligence, and developed a landscape-based approach—in collaboration with an NGO partner—to achieve net conservation gain. Klaus actively engages with NGOs, downstream buyers, and international and multilateral stakeholders to understand and respond to evolving expectations for responsible mining and mineral processing.
