This side event is organized by Red Invest, Colombia’s national network of regional investment promotion agencies, which serves as a platform to share best practices and strengthen coordination to make territories more competitive for direct investment attraction, while promoting sustainable development through subnational collaboration. The session will showcase how regional agencies have become key technical actors in territorial development, leading efforts to align foreign direct investment (FDI) with employment generation, human capital strengthening, and the creation of inclusive economic ecosystems. Agencies such as Invest in Bogotá, ProBarranquilla, and others from across Colombia will share experiences on how territorial investment strategies, can support the transformation of local economies and foster long-term competitiveness. The dialogue will be enriched by the participation of OECD experts, connecting Colombian cases with global policy frameworks. Thematic blocks will include: • Sustainable Foreign Direct Investment & Public-Private Collaboration How FDI strategies can align with regional vocations and development potential, including lessons from the OECD and successful public-private partnerships. • Employment, Skills, and Human Capital Development Challenges and opportunities in connecting investment attraction with local workforce development, training systems, and the strengthening of human capital.
