Andrés Rodríguez-Pose is the holder of the Princess of Asturias Chair and Professor of Economic Geography at the London School of Economics (LSE), where he heads the Cañada Blanch Centre. Previously, he was Dean of the Department of Geography and Environment. He has been the chairman of the European Union High Level Group on the Future of Cohesion Policy, tasked with defining the EU cohesion policy, the main development policy in the world, starting from 2027. Furthermore, Rodríguez-Pose has held prominent positions in the field of regional science, such as President and Vice President of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI), as well as Vice President and Secretary of the European Regional Science Association. His research covers regional growth and inequality, fiscal and political decentralization, institutions, discontent and populism, innovation, migration, and development strategies. His work is highly influential and he regularly advises international organizations and governments. He is also widely cited in academic circles. Over the past five years, he has topped the Stanford ranking —which identifies the most influential scientists across all disciplines worldwide— in the field of urban and regional studies. Additionally, he has been on the Web of Science's Highly Cited Researchers list from Clarivate for the past five years. Among his many accolades, Rodríguez-Pose received the ERSA Prize in Regional Science in 2018, considered the most prestigious award in the field. He also holds honorary doctorates from the University of Utrecht (Netherlands) and Jönköping University (Sweden).
