John Manuel Delgado Nivia is a medical doctor by profession, with a Master’s degree in Government and Public Policy and a specialization in New Technologies, Innovation, and Urban Management. With over 19 years of experience in the public sector, he has held high-level positions at both local and national levels. Notably, he has served as Head of the Planning Advisory Office at the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, as Cabinet Secretary in the mayors' offices of Bucaramanga and Barrancabermeja, and currently as Director of the Bucaramanga Metropolitan Area (AMB). In his current role, he leads a strategic institution responsible for managing the metropolitan territory, focusing on key issues such as sustainable mobility, the environment, security, and urban planning. Under his leadership, the AMB has taken on the challenge of reclaiming public space and promoting a safer, more inclusive, and better-connected city-region vision. His administration drives institutional rehabilitation processes, the recovery of deteriorated urban spaces, and the strengthening of formal public transportation amid complex scenarios. He is known for his technical and strategic approach, with a strong ability to coordinate across different levels of government and engage social and economic actors around concrete solutions for citizens. His leadership is reflected in his commitment to transforming the urban environment and modernizing public institutions within the metropolitan area.
