Christina Bibler is an award-winning, local government and nonprofit executive, currently serving as the City of San Diego’s Economic Development Director overseeing real estate, airports and economic activities. As the 2022 Government Partner of the Year, Christina added more duties to her portfolio and now spearheads the city’s efforts for lease administration, real estate transactions, airport management, business engagement, corporate partnerships, community development including funding for affordable housing. Over the past two decades, Christina has focused on building high performing teams, leading change, and creating programs that bring economic prosperity. Her real strength is in community building and ensuring the right voices are connected. Under Christina’s leadership, the city approved a new focused Economic Development Strategy, created new partnerships that will generate millions in city revenue and deploy greater access to public information, and in response to the global pandemic, she deployed tens of millions of local and federal funds to local small businesses to restore and sustain the local workforce. She is actively leading the negotiations for several city-owned properties to revitalize and invest in community’s long-term future and create more affordable housing units, including the largest affordable housing project in the state of California, Midway Rising. Christina ensures a strong focus on equity for programs in economic development and remains focused on San Diego’s global presence as an inclusive, binational mega-region with Tijuana, Mexico. Christina earned her Master’s Degree in City Planning, a certificate in Community and Economic Development, and Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Arts and Sciences from San Diego State University. She is passionate about serving the community and currently serves on several nonprofit boards in the region and state of California. Christina is a proud San Diegan and lives in north San Diego County with her husband, a U.S. Navy Commander and their three school-aged boys.
