Biography
Eva Åkerman Börje is the Director a.i., IOM’s Department of Data, Insight and Policy. Prior to this she led IOM’s Policy Hub in the Office of the Director-General of IOM.
Ms. Åkerman Börje previously served as the senior policy advisor to the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for International Migration in the UN Secretariat in New York during the negotiations of the Global Compact for Migration.
Before joining the UN, Ms. Åkerman Börje was the director/ambassador for Global Cooperation on International Migration and Development in the Department for Migration and Asylum Policy at the Swedish Government, including as chair of the GFMD 2013-2014. She has chaired the HLWG on asylum and migration in the EU council, been a fellow at Harvard University and served with the Swedish MFA, the European Commission in Brussels and the EFTA Secretariat in Geneva.
