Biography
Katharina Bonnenfant is Digital Transformation Coordinator at the Legal Department of the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin, and as such is in charge of developing and implementing a digital consular service.
Before returning to Berlin in 2022, she served for four years as Deputy Permanent Delegate of Germany to UNESCO, where she negotiated inter alia the UNESCO recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence. From 2014 to 2018, Katharina worked in Brussels at the Secretariat-General of the European Commission and at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the EU. A lawyer and political scientist by training, Katharina specialised in technology-related issues in patent and copyright law before joining the Foreign Service in 2010.
