Description
This worskhop will bring together companies and trade unions representatives to discuss and promote a common understanding of engagement expectations under the Garment Guidance, specifically focusing on engaging worker representatives and trade unions on labor rights issues. The session will promote good examples of company-union engagement for due diligence, and consider implications of recent policy developments, including legislation.
The purpose of this session is to build on discussions initiated during last year’s OECD Company-Union Roundtable on Meaningful Engagement in Due Diligence, seeking to foster a community of practice among business and trade union representatives to exchange experiences, share practical approaches, and continue dialogue on meaningful engagement. To inform and guide the roundtable discussions, the OECD has developed a Background Note as a reference document. The note outlines expectations from OECD RBC standards, common challenges to effective engagement and presents practical measures to overcome them.
