The Entrepreneurs Academy
Since its establishment in 1998, the Academy has partnered with government, regional authorities, public agencies and employers to design and deliver practical, accredited and unaccredited programmes in entrepreneurship, innovation and enterprise skills and capability development. To date, The Entrepreneurs Academy has trained more than 120,000 people of all ages, enabling startups and workforce transition to strengthen local economic resilience and social cohesion through entrepreneurship led and innovation driven development. The project was a collaboration between Bord na Mona (employer) Laois & Offaly Education & Training Board, Hartley People Training with The Entrepreneurs Academy as the design and delivery partner for the New Beginnings entrepreneurship training programme.

"New Beginnings was a place based Just Transition entrepreneurship programme supporting workers and communities affected by structural economic change following the transition away from peat based energy in the Midlands of Ireland. The initiative provided an integrated pathway from employment displacement to sustainable economic participation through entrepreneurship. Combining income security during training, accredited skills development, mentoring, trial trading and access to seed capital, New Beginnings enabled participants to establish viable, locally rooted enterprises. The programme contributes to inclusive and sustainable local development by enhancing regional resilience, supporting micro enterprise creation, and strengthening social cohesion, ensuring that economic transition is fair, participative and aligned with EU and OECD Just Transition principles.
