Description

Public procurement is a key economic activity and a crucial pillar of service delivery. Safeguarding the integrity of the public procurement system is critical to ensuring that public funds are spent efficiently, transparently, and in the public interest. Integrity failures in public procurement can lead to financial losses, lower-quality goods and services, distorted competition, limited market access, and reduced citizens’ trust in governments. This side event will present practical strategies to embed risk management throughout the procurement cycle, drawing on OECD guidance and real-world experiences. It will bring together practitioners, policy makers, business, academia, and civil society to share good practices and explore the linkages between integrity and other procurement challenges. The event is organised around two sessions: • Session 1: Managing Integrity Risks in Public Procurement This session will examine frameworks and tools for identifying, assessing, and mitigating integrity risks throughout the public procurement cycle. It will explore practical approaches to embedding integrity and risk management in procurement processes, as well as the interactions between integrity risks and other categories of procurement risk. • Session 2: Applying Digital Technologies to Public Procurement Integrity Challenges This session will explore how digital transformation, including e-procurement platforms and the use of digital technologies such as data analytics, and AI-powered tools, can strengthen transparency, detect fraud, and support real-time risk monitoring.
