Description
Organised by BridgeGap
This session reframes integrity and transparency systems as core enablers of competitiveness and sustainable growth, moving beyond their traditional role as compliance safeguards. Drawing on original research from the EU-funded BRIDGEGAP project, we introduce a framework for Integrity Management Systems (IMS) and demonstrate how imbalanced systems lead to failure, while agile and embedded ones generate tangible value. Using cross-sector case studies from defence, infrastructure, health, sport, and banking, we explore how organisations can enhance their integrity to build trust, prevent scandals, and foster innovation. At the macro-level, we present new evidence on the extent and geographical distribution of corporate bribery of foreign public officials. Furthermore, we examine findings on de jure and de facto transparency across Europe, revealing how transparency – when meaningfully aligned with citizen participation – enhances integrity system performance. This session will provide a roadmap for public and private leaders to transform ethics into a strategic asset.
