Description
What does it take to build a culture of integrity across an entire public sector? And how can governments translate political commitment into real, measurable progress?
Thailand has already taken an important step. As the first country in Southeast Asia to complete an Integrity Review it signaled a strong commitment to strengthening its public integrity system. Guided by the 2017 OECD Recommendation on Public Integrity, the Review put forward concrete recommendations on institutional arrangements, integrity training for public officials, asset disclosure, and whistleblower protection.
Yet the challenge remains urgent and raises critical questions. What reforms are making a difference? Where are the gaps in enforcement and accountability?
Advancing Public Integrity in Thailand seeks to answer these questions. The report takes stock of progress and confronts the hard questions: Are anti-corruption strategies delivering results? Are sanctions credible? Are conflicts of interest effectively managed? This is a moment to spark dialogue, challenge assumptions, and identify the reforms needed to build a resilient culture of integrity across Thailand’s public institutions. At a time when global attention on governance is increasing, this event offers an opportunity to identify the next steps in Thailand’s journey toward greater transparency, stronger institutions, and a resilient culture of integrity across the public sector.
This event will include opening remarks by OECD Secretary-General, Mathias Cormann and Deputy Prime Minister of Thailand, H.E. Borwornsak Uwanno and brings together distinguished speakers and senior stakeholders to reflect on the report’s key findings and to discuss pathways for further strengthening public integrity and good governance in Thailand.
