Description

Commissioner CHOI Seung Pil of the Board of Audit and Inspection of the Republic of Korea took the office in January 2026. Dr. Choi is responsible for making the final decisions of BAI audit results as a member of the Council of Commissioners. Before joining the BAI, he had been a professor of law at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies from 2007 to 2025, and served as presidents and vice presidents of many academic committees, including the Korean Association of Public Law, from 2019 to 2025. He had also been a member of advisory and/or deliberative committees of multiple government institutions, including but not limited to the Financial Services Commission, the Financial Supervisory Service, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, and the Ministry of Justice from 2011 to 2024. He started his career in the public sector in 1994 at the Bank of Korea as an economic analyst. Born in 1968, Dr. Choi graduated from Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (1991). He then earned his doctoral degree in Economic and Public Administration from Julius-Maximilians University of Würtzburg, Germany in 2006.
