Description
Radu Marinescu was born on May 25th, 1973, and grew up in Craiova, a city that would mark both his professional and political career. A graduate of the "Frații Buzeşti" National College, he then attended the Faculty of Law of the University of Craiova, which he graduated in 1995 as valedictorian. During his academic studies as a law student, more precisely in September 1994, he attended a course entitled "Introduction to European Law", at the Faculty of Law of the University of Tilburg, the Netherlands. Immediately after having completed his studies, he became a member of the Dolj County Bar Association and began to practice as a trainee lawyer. After only a few years, in 1999, he opened his own law office in the city of Craiova. Over the years, he has represented both public institutions and individuals with significant public visibility. Since 2009, Mr. Radu Marinescu has been holding the academic title of Doctor of Juridical Sciences, conferred by the "Nicolae Titulescu" Faculty of Law of the University of Craiova. In the same year, he also obtained the graduation certificate of the Department for the Training of Teaching Staff, levels I and II, within the Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest. Starting with 2016 he became a member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), holding several mandates as a local councilor within the Craiova Local Council, and in 2024 he was elected Member of the Romanian Parliament (deputy) on behalf of PSD in the Dolj constituency. At the end of 2024, he was appointed Minister of Justice. Subsequently, he was reconfirmed in office in June 2025, being mandated to fulfil the Government Program in the field of justice.
