Description
Changing demographics across OECD countries, in particular ageing populations with shrinking shares of working-age groups, are placing new pressures on care systems. Care, whether informal or formal, is predominantly provided by women. The unequal distribution of unpaid care between men and women is an obstacle to greater labour market participation of women. It also increases women’s vulnerability to economic shocks and limits career progression as formal caring roles are often in low-wage and part-time jobs. This session will address how digital technologies and data can transform care delivery, support a more equitable division of care responsibilities, and empower individuals to make informed choices about work and family life.
