Description
Fiorella Haim is the President of the Board of Directors at Ceibal. She holds a degree in Electronics Engineering from Universidad de la República in Uruguay, earned in 2002, and a Master of Science from the University of Maryland in the United States, completed in 2005.
Her career at Ceibal has been closely tied to the organization’s history and growth. Since its creation in 2007, she has held several key leadership positions, serving as Operations Manager in 2010, Deputy General Manager in 2012, and General Manager from 2016 to March 2025. In 2025, she was appointed President of Ceibal, becoming the first woman to lead the organization.
Alongside her institutional leadership, Haim has built a strong academic career. Since 2001, she has been a faculty member at the Institute of Electrical Engineering at Universidad de la República, where she currently serves as an Associate Professor specializing in digital systems. Her professional experience spans biomedical engineering projects, industrial control, and the integration of electronic applications. She has also published extensively in specialized journals and conference proceedings.
Her contributions have received both national and international recognition. In 2021, she won the first Ada Byron Award for Women in Technology in Uruguay. In 2022, she joined the expert advisory group for the Uruguayan Parliament’s Special Commission on the Future, focusing on the future of work. In 2026, she was recognized by BETT (British Educational Training and Technology) as one of 10 women worldwide honored for their contributions to education and technology, and was the only representative from Latin America in the Women in EdTech category.
