Fay Skevington is Head of AI Alignment for Education in the UK Government’s Department for Education, with responsibility for the quality, safety, and governance of generative AI in education in England. Her work has included the Department for Education’s product safety standards for AI in education (Jan 2026), which cover cognitive, social and emotional development. Her work covers education specific considerations in AI system development, including approaches to educational content and datasets, and incorporates participatory approaches to ensure that decisions on the use and oversight of AI in education are informed by the perspectives of pupils and young people.
