Paul Stevens is a Chemical Engineer with extensive industrial and regulatory experience, including an early career in the cement manufacturing industry. He joined the Environment Agency in 1997 as a Process Industries and Radioactive Substances Inspector, gaining experience across a broad range of industrial sectors. He subsequently held leadership and management roles, including responsibility for regulatory and permitting teams, before becoming the Environment Agency’s national technical lead for the cement, lime and minerals industries and the waste incineration sector.
