Biography
Monique Commelin currently serves as Director-General for the Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement at the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands. This directorate general focuses on topics concerning law enforcement and the safeguarding of legal rights. Reflecting both her personal vision and the objectives of the organization; the directorate general works to build a strong democratic country governed by the rule of law, where people can live and work safely and freely. With easy access to the law and legal services to resolve problems and disputes, and where everyone is protected by that law.
With a distinguished career spanning over decades in public administration, she has held several senior leadership positions that reflect her deep experience in the political and administrative dynamics as well as in implementing bodies. Prior to her appointment as Director-General, Monique Commelin was Director of Police Policy and Operations, as well as Deputy Director-General for the Police and Security Regions at the Ministry of Justice and Security.
