Description

Anna Athanasopoulou is Head of Tourism, Textiles and Creative Industries at the European Commission since March 2021. An EU civil servant since 2002, Anna has held diverse posts in Brussels and Geneva, relating to culture and education, creative industries, tourism and textiles industry and external relations. Before joining the EU civil service, Anna worked as Adviser to two Ministers of Culture in Greece and as Director of Programme Planning for the Athens 2004 Cultural Olympiad. In parallel, she taught courses and gave lectures on History of Art and Cultural Management (University of Aegean, Open University of Greece, Athens University, Athens College, Christies). Anna holds a B.A in Archaeology (Thessaloniki University) and completed postgraduate studies in History of Art in USA (Master of Arts, George Washington University) and the UK (Ph.D, Courtauld Institute of Art).
