Description

Shaimaa Yassin is a senior research director at the Institute for Research on Public Policy, where she leads the Toward a More Equitable Canada research program. She directs the IRPP’s role as a research and knowledge mobilization partner of the Affordability Action Council and contributes to the IRPP’s Community Transformations Project. Shaimaa holds a PhD in economics from the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and an MSc from the Paris School of Economics. A policy-oriented labour economist with over 15 years of experience, she has worked with governments and international organizations to translate complex research into actionable policy on cost of living, access to basic needs, economic participation and addressing barriers to opportunity —particularly where labour market dynamics and skills intersect with equity issues.
