Biography

Kristina Zamarytė-Sakavičienė is the Vice Minister of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania, appointed in October 2025. Her responsibilities include overseeing the development of the national legal system, civil law, civil procedure, and administrative litigation. With a career bridging public service, academia, and civil society, Kristina has twice served as a legal adviser at the Chancellery of the Seimas (Lithuanian Parliament) and lectured in human rights and medical law at Mykolas Romeris University from 2008 to 2022. She has also held leadership roles at the Institute for Free Society and the Institute of Biomedical Ethics and Law, advancing dialogue on law, ethics, and human rights. A former Good Clinical Practice Inspector at the State Medicines Control Agency and the European Medicines Agency, Kristina holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in law from Mykolas Romeris University and continues her doctoral research. She is also a frequent media commentator on legal and ethical issues.
