Biography
Alba Esther Corona Valerio is Deputy to the Attorney General of the Republic, Director of the National Victim Assistance System, and President of the Disciplinary Council of the Attorney General. With over 19 years’ experience at the Public Prosecutor’s Office, she is a distinguished jurist specialising in human rights, victim care, and the prosecution of complex crimes.
Graduating in Law from the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in 2004, Alba Esther joined the Public Prosecutor’s Office in 2006. She holds specialisations in Criminal Sciences applied to the Public Prosecutor’s Office and has undergone extensive national and international training in gender-based violence, sexual offences, human trafficking, and the commercial sexual exploitation of children.
She earned two master’s degrees: one in Criminal Law and Criminal Procedures from the University of APEC, and another in Victimology and Applied Criminology from the International University of La Rioja (UNIR), Spain. Alba Esther’s leadership has been pivotal in managing specialised units, including the Gender-Based Violence Response Unit in Santiago, the Department on Human Trafficking and Smuggling in the National District, and the National Legal Representation Service for Victims’ Rights (RELEVIC).
Renowned for her ethical commitment and victim-centred approach, she remains a key figure in the advancement and strengthening of the criminal justice system in the Dominican Republic.
