Biography

Anneke van Dijk currently serves as Secretary-General at the Ministry of Justice and Security of the Netherlands, where she leads the ministry’s strategic direction and oversees the effective coordination of justice and law enforcement policies. In this role, she provides leadership across the ministry’s diverse domains—including the police, public prosecution, judiciary, and custodial institutions—ensuring coherence in policy development and implementation. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades in public administration, she has held several senior leadership positions that reflect her deep expertise in constitutional, administrative, and legislative affairs. Prior to her appointment as Secretary-General, Ms. van Dijk served as Director-General for the Administration of Justice and Law Enforcement, where she led efforts to strengthen the rule of law, enhance access to justice, and strengthen the integrity and effectiveness of the Dutch legal system. Earlier in her career, she was Director-General for Migration and Director of Legislation and Legal Affairs, overseeing policy development in complex legal and societal domains. Her experience also includes senior advisory and project leadership roles in the Ministries of the Interior, and Kingdom Relations, where she contributed to major constitutional and electoral reforms.
