The 2025 OECD Global Roundtable on Equal Access to Justice

About the Roundtables

The OECD Global Roundtables on Equal Access to Justice are an annual forum for mutual exchange of good practices and lessons learned, in line with the 2023 OECD Recommendation on Access to Justice and People-Centred Justice Systems, and to advance SDG 16’s call to ensure equal access to justice for all, focusing on making people-centred justice transformation happen. Under the auspices of the OECD Public Governance Committee and as part of the OECD Reinforcing Democracy Initiative, the OECD Global Roundtables aim to support increasing efforts across countries to advance people-centred justice, with a focus on driving transformation, strengthening resilience, building trust in public institutions and enhancing the overall health of democratic societies and the rule of law. The annual meetings emphasise the importance of access to justice and responsiveness to the evolving needs of society, including in the digital space, while promoting inclusivity for groups in vulnerable situations - through collaboration, dialogue, and future-proofing the justice sector.

The 2025 OECD Global Roundtable on Equal Access to Justice will be held in Madrid from 12-14 November
“Shaping the future of justice: building a system that earns trust and delivers shared prosperity”

Hosted by the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Parliamentary Relations of Spain and the OECD, this year’s Roundtable will bring together global leaders to chart the next phase of action for effective and responsive justice systems. The meeting will consist of a three-day event structured around high-level and technical exchanges.

The flagship Justice Leaders’ Dialogue will open the Roundtable, convening Ministers of Justice, Attorneys General, and senior officials to address pressing justice sector challenges, define strategic priorities, and reinforce global cooperation. Building on this high-level dialogue, the Justice Policy Forum and a series of Technical Roundtable Sessions will offer in-depth discussions on policy innovations, emerging risks, and practical reforms. These sessions will explore cross-cutting topics such as the use of AI in justice, climate-related disputes, and improving access to justice for small businesses and vulnerable groups.

Held at the Royal Collections Gallery in Madrid, the Roundtable will provide a unique setting for peer learning, collaboration, and the development of concrete actions to advance people-centred and resilient justice systems.
