Presentation

Erin Kenney of the USA is WHO’s lead for gender, equity and human rights ad interim since January 2022. She was formerly the Chief of Staff of WHO’s Universal Health Coverage and Life Course Division from 2019 to 2021. Since joining WHO in 2006, Ms Kenney has also served as Chief of Staff of the WHO Health Emergencies Programme, led WHO’s work on Attacks on Health Care, served as advisor to the Assistant Director General for health emergencies, and led the Secretariat of the Global Health Cluster. Before joining WHO, Ms Kenney worked for the World Food Programme in several country-level postings including Rwanda, Burundi, Angola, DRC and Bosnia. Prior to joining the United Nations, Ms Kenney worked for non-governmental organizations in Sudan, Kenya and Somalia, and for the US government in the Philippines. Ms Kenney holds degrees from the University of California and Johns Hopkins University.
