Youth and COVID-19: Response, Recovery and Resilience

The COVID-19 pandemic and its economic and social impacts have disrupted all aspects of life. People of different ages, however, are experiencing its effects in different ways. To avoid exacerbating intergenerational inequalities and to involve young people in building societal resilience, governments need to anticipate the impact of mitigation and recovery measures. Based on survey findings from 90 youth organisations in 48 countries, this policy brief outlines measures governments can take to design inclusive and fair recovery measures that leave no one behind.

Governance for Youth, Trust and Intergenerational Justice: Fit for All Generations?

This report provides the first comparative assessment of the policies, laws, institutional capacities and governance tools put in place by 42 national governments and the European Union to promote youth empowerment and intergenerational justice. It sets benchmarks for cross-country comparisons in three main areas: 1) Supporting youth’s transition to an autonomous life, 2) Enhancing youth’s participation and representation in public life as well as trust in government, and 3) Delivering fair policy outcomes for all generations.

Des initiatives multiples de participation citoyenne à la vie locale ont vu le jour à Salé, faisant de cette ville de près de 900 000 habitants figure de pionnière. L’OCDE y conduit un projet pilote pour, d’une part, accompagner la commune à renforcer sa démarche et lui donner un cadre stratégique à visée pluriannuelle, et d’autre part, faire en sorte que l’expérience de Salé puisse être utilement disséminée dans d’autres contextes locaux.

Local Youth Ambassadors Programme In Jordan: Response to COVID-19

Youth in Jordan have played a crucial role in joining government efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. In response to the pandemic, participants of the Local Youth Ambassadors Programme (LYAP) have set up awareness campaigns to create a sense of shared responsibility among their peers, to fight misinformation and to encourage compliance with the measures put in place by government to contain the spread of the virus.
