Alejandro Eder (48) is an internationally recognized expert in peacebuilding, security, and social development from Cali, Colombia. He holds degrees in International Relations and Philosophy from Hamilton College and a Master’s from Columbia University. Eder served as Colombia's High Presidential Counselor for Reintegration (2010-2014), leading efforts to redesign the country's reintegration process. He also played a pivotal role in the Colombian Peace Process as a negotiator with the FARC. Between 2015-2018, he directed the ProPacífico Foundation, advancing public interest projects for the development of Colombia's Pacific region. Before his governmental experience, Eder was involved in investment banking. As Cali's Mayor, Eder is committed in revitalizing the city, merging successful leadership with experience in public management, and working to reduce social inequalities, improving opportunities and impacting on the quality of life for all the inhabitants of Cali's territory.
