Labour Inclusion: Opportunities for All In Barranquilla, labour inclusion has moved beyond aspiration to become a tangible public policy. Through the BAQIn label, the city has launched a pioneering strategy that recognises and supports companies that open their doors to people with disabilities, victims of conflict, migrants, and host communities. This label, developed by the District’s Office of Social Development in coordination with the Opportunities Centre of the Secretariat of Economic Development, has enabled over 300 people with disabilities to access formal employment in 55 companies committed to diversity. During this visit, participants will hear directly from both employers and the workers who have benefited from the programme. They will learn how this differential support pathway was built, and explore the incentives, lessons learned, and challenges of promoting a more equitable city through inclusive employment. An experience that shows how inclusion can be a powerful driver of productivity, social cohesion, and business pride.
