Description

Maria De Benedetto is Professor of Administrative law in the Department of Political Science, Roma Tre University and member of academic societies, among others the Associazione italiana dei Professori di Diritto Amministrativo (AIPDA) and the International Association of Legislation (IAL). She is also member of Executive Boards at the Istituto Luigi Sturzo-Rome and at Roma Tre School of Administration (ASA Roma Tre) as well as vice-chair of the Governing Board - Istitute for Regulatory Innovation, Delivery and Effectiveness-IRIDE/European Public Law Organization. She has been Visiting Professor at Flinders University (Adelaide, 2015), at the Universitat de Barcelona (2017), Professeure invitée at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS, Paris, 2020), Visiting Professor at the Academy of European Public Law (AEPL, Atene-Sounion, 2023). She has been also Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS, London, 2014-2015) where is currently Associate Fellow, Sir William Dale Centre for Legislative Studies. She has been an advisor of national and international institutions, including the Italian Competition Authority, the Presidency of the Italian Council of Ministers, the OECD. She has been part of various public bodies such as the Commission for the revision of Civil Code for Heritage (2007), the Unit for simplification and quality of regulation (2006-2008) and the Italian National Research Council Ethics Commission (2014-2015). She is author of books and articles on several public law issues. Among others, competition, regulation, simplification, corruption, administrative proceedings, public property, administrative authorities and administrative organization, regulatory enforcement and controls, education, law and language, trust and institutions. Worth mentioning here a co-edited book published in 2020 with Nomos-Hart (The crisis of confidence in Legislation, with N. Lupo and N. Rangone) and an authored book published in 2021 with Hart (Corruption from a regulatory perspective). She is currently writing in English, French, Spanish and Italian on the topic of law effectiveness, on anti-corruption and on coastal regulation.
