Biography
Mircea Abrudean is Vice-president of the Senate of Romania and member of the Committee for energy, energetic infrastructure and mineral resources.
Prior to his election as Senator in December 2024, he was Secretary General of the Government, with the rank of Minister, playing an important role in coordinating Romania's accession process to the OECD, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During 2021-2023, he was Head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery, a structure within the Government's working apparatus, with an inter-institutional coordination role in drafting and substantiating the Government's strategic vision. In 2021, he was Deputy Secretary General of the Romanian Government, and in 2019-2021, Prefect of Cluj County.
Mircea Abrudean holds a degree in International Relations and European Studies from the BabeÈ™-Bolyai University of Cluj-Napoca and a Master's degree in Project Management from the National School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest.
