Biography
Speaker Mircea Abrudean is the President of the Romanian Senate, elected as senator, at the general elections that took place at the end of 2024, representing Cluj County.
Previously to being President of the Senate, he served as Secretary General of the Romanian Government. During this time, he coordinated, in partnership with MOFA, Romania’s accession process to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). At present he is VP of the Joint Special Committee of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate for supporting Romania’s OECD accession process.
He held many positions in the past, such as Head of the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, Deputy Secretary General of the Government, Governor of Cluj County.
Mr. Abrudean is a graduate of International Relations and European Studies at Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca and holds a Project Management Master’s Degree, at the National School of Political and Administrative Studies in Bucharest.
