Description

Sabine Bourdy is currently Head of Unit in charge of Green Finance and Investments in the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission. The core activities of her team are to contribute to delivering the benefits of the European Green Deal by supporting investments in environmental priorities and ensuring the integration of environmental requirements from policy to project level. It involves identification of investments needs and risks, environmental and biodiversity tracking, coordinating of green investments for DG ENV in the EU budget and other funding instruments, helping to mobilise additional public and private investments, as well as by greening the public and private financial sector. It relies on close relationships with EU Member states, stakeholders, NGOs and IFI (in particular the EIB), as well as the development of assistance tools to provide technical advice to support projects on environmental priorities and the implementation of the EU's sustainable finance strategy. Throughout her professional career, Sabine Bourdy has also been involved in the European Union's support for regional development, both in Brussels and in the field. She has previously held several posts as Head of Unit on the implementation of cohesion policy in favour of several Member States (Greece and Cyprus during the financial crisis, Slovakia and Austria, as well as Outermost regions). She has been a Director in a French region in charge of Research Higher Education, European and International Affairs.
