Description
Simphiwe is a professionally registered environmental scientist (SACNASP) who holds an MSc Degree in Environmental Sciences from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. With over 10 years of industry experience, she is currently the Senior-Manager for the Mitigation Team at the Presidential Climate Commission (PCC). In this role she oversees the strategic and inclusive implementation of energy, transport and sector wide Just Transition and climate risk mitigation initiatives. She uses her strategic mindset to coordinate and facilitate consensus on the NetZero pathways for each sector of the economy, focusing largely on power and transport to support the country’s efforts towards the Paris Agreement and ensure JUST socio-economic development. Simphiwe is passionate about managing climate risk in a growing and future fit economy that will reduce inequality, unemployment and poverty.
