Description

Dr. Sara Budinis is a Senior Energy Consultant at the World Bank, where she supports the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), focusing on industrial decarbonization. With over 15 years of experience in energy systems, carbon management, and industrial innovation, she has led high-impact projects and authored numerous publications on carbon capture, low-emission technologies, and sustainable manufacturing. Prior to joining the World Bank, Sara was an Energy Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA), where she coordinated the carbon management work programme and advised senior leadership on CCUS strategies. Her career spans roles in academia, consultancy, and industry, including research at Imperial College London and engineering at Ansaldo Energia. Sara holds a PhD in Process Control and Automation from Imperial College London and multiple degrees in Chemical and Industrial Engineering. She is fluent in English, Italian, and French, and actively contributes to international expert groups and working panels on energy and sustainability.
