Description

Brian is a Director of Services with Galway City Council currently responsible for the Economic and Cultural Development Unit within the Council. Within this remit is the operation of Galway City Arts Office, Town Hall Theatres, Galway City Museum and Leisureland Events Centre. Brian also has responsibility for implementation of the Creative Ireland programme, Cultural strategy of the Council, “Everybody matters” and the cities participation in the Creative Cities network and Unesco designation as a City of Film. Under his direction, developing the economic potential of the creative sector is also a key objective of Galway City Council. Brian is a graduate of NUI Galway with a Bachelor of Commerce and Master of Arts in Community Development. He has worked as an external lecturer with NUI, Galway on their programmes including the MA in Community Development, Masters in Rural Development and various diploma and degree programmes within the College. For the past 30 years he has worked across the local, regional and rural development sectors in Ireland and Europe employed in the public, private and community sectors.
